Rombo Mountain News Release

Rombo Mountain Fire Update 09 05 2007 10:00

Incident: Rombo Mountain Wildland Fire
Released: 9/5/2007

FIRE STATUS

The Shook Mountain area saw the greatest activity on Tuesday, but crews were able to keep the fire within the line and brought all spot fires under control. Three engines helped firefighters mop up the line to a depth of one chain (66 feet) on the northeast flank.

Crews on the east and south sides of the fire patrolled the line. Fireline restoration began on the west side, where crews pulled hose and repaired fireline.

Today, cooler and damper weather will reduce the chance of fire spread today. Crews and water drops on Shook Mountain will keep the fire in check; the rest of the perimeter will be patrolled. More staff will be assigned to restoring fireline and safety zones.

Drier weather is expected to build through the weekend.

EVACUATIONS

The Stage-1 Pre-evacuations for all areas affected by the Rombo Mountain Fire have been lifted as of 8:00 Tuesday morning.
