FIRE STATUS:
The Stage 1 Pre-evacuations for all areas affected by the Rombo Mountain Fire have been lifted as of 8:00 this morning.
On Monday, Rombo's firefighters continued to hold the line against weather and fire conditions. The most active behavior was seen on the north end where crews were assisted by numerous aircraft retardant and water drops. Fire reached the ridge on the south side of Capri Lake where crews continued to patrol the area. On the rest of the fire, there was minimal growth and isolated spotting that was handled quickly by crews.
On the west side of the fire, crews began fireline erosion control and re-vegetation, and removed under-utilized equipment and hose. These efforts will continue Tuesday.
Today on the fireline, crews will hold and patrol the line and extinguish spot fires as they occur. Helicopters and planes will continue to drop water and retardant on the fire in needed areas.
A frontal system will move into the area Tuesday afternoon, bringing cooler, damper air.
