Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A

Firefighters continue making good progress containing the Mile Marker 124 fire, located on the north side of I-90 near Clinton, Montana. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity helped the firefighting efforts. The fire is now 80% contained. Today firefighters will continue mopping up the smoldering fire and providing for structure protection if needed.

Last evening fire management officials held a community meeting in Clinton to brief residents on the status of the fire and planned actions. All evacuation notices and warnings for local residents have been lifted. Residents of the Cramer Creek area being allowed back into the area with a permit. The areas near the fire are still closed to the general public until further notice.

Out of concern for safety, residents of the Wallace Creek and Cramer Creek areas are urged to use caution when driving due to continued firefighting traffic in the area. Motorists on I-90 are also restricted from stopping along the west side of the highway from Beaver Tail Hill Road to Clinton, Montana.

Tomorrow morning the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A will turn over management of the final stages of the fire to a Type 3 team managed by Chris Schow, under the authority of the Montana Department of Natural Resources Conservation. The Clinton Rural Fire Department will also be part of these continuing efforts. Many firefighting and support personnel assigned to the fire may be reassigned to other ongoing fires.
