NOTICE: PUBLIC MEETING TONIGHT

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5, 8:00PM

Clinton Rural Fire Department

The Mile Maker 124 Fire continues to burn north and northeast on the north side of I-90. Fire behavior has moderated due to higher relative humidity and lower temperatures. Firefighters continue to burn out areas, construct dozer line and provide structure point protection with values at risk with available resources.

The concern for motorists and fire fighter safety continues to exist on I-90 and motorists are being asked to please watch their speed and pay attention to changes in traffic. Motorist may be ticketed for stopping along the west side of I-90 from Beaver Tail Hill Road to Clinton, Montana.

Last evening fire management officials met with residents in the West Fork and Lower area of Crammer Creek to advise that the evacuation notice had been lifted. Residents are being allowed back into that area by permit only along with other restrictions. The Crammer Creek road and surrounding area is still closed to the general public.

Residents in the Wallace Creek area are still on 12 to 36 hour notification in case they are asked to leave the area due to increased fire behavior.

Yesterday firefighters from the Mile Marker 124 fire assisted Clinton Rural Fire Department on a grass fire near the Rock Creek road exit. A helicopter assisted in the containment of the fire.

The weather forecast calls for a trough of low pressure setting up along the west coast. This low pressure will keep the area under fast southwest flow aloft, and allow cooler temperatures to prevail and bring moisture into the equation for the next several days. Firefighters will be conducting mop up operations.
