Yesterday's Activities:

The Conger Creek Fire increased in size to about 10,200 acres. The southeast corner of the fire continues to back steadily toward the confluence of the North Fork and Dry Fork, moving slowly down the North Fork drainage on the north side of the stream. The fire spotted across the North Fork earlier in the week, and the fire use module completed a saw line around the spot. A new 14-person fire use module arrived and will transition with the present module over the next 3 days. The fire also continues to slowly ascend upslope through heavy dead and down fuels and heavy lodgepole regeneration toward Lake Mountain.

Weather and Fire Behavior forecast for today:

Expect areas of thick smoke with limited visibility. A red flag warning is in effect from 3pm - 9pm for gusty winds and low himidities. Temperatures 71-81 degrees, humidity 12-22 percent, winds out of the southeast 5-10 MPH this morning becoming southwest 10-20 MPH this afternoon.

Today's Planned Actions:

Aerial reconnaissance is ordered. The new fire use module will hike into the North Fork Cabin. Crews will complete structure protection on Burnt Cabin.

Special Notices, Alerts & Restrictions:

The area closure begins at Triple Divide in Sec. 6, T18N, R10W, runs southeasterly along the Lolo National Forest boundary through Olson Peak to Mineral Hill, then crosses to North Fork Blackfoot Trailhead. From the trailhead the closure goes north up Lake Creek to East Spread Mountain, turns westerly to Spread Mountain and runs southwesterly along (and includes) Spread Creek Trail NFST #166 to Monture Trailhead. From Monture Trailhead the boundary runs north along (and includes) Center Ridge Trail NFST #246 to Lodgepole Trailhead. From Lodgepole Trailhead the boundary runs cross country to Nome Point, on to Morrell Mountain, then turns north to Pyramid Pass Trailhead, continues to Pyramid Peak, then follows the Lolo National Forest boundary easterly to Triple Divide.
