August 9 Conger Creek Fire Daily Update

Incident: Conger Creek Wildland Fire

Conger Creek Fire experienced moderate growth yesterday and continues to display moderate-spread rate in the 1988 Canyon Creek burn. Personnel mapped the fire for a more accurate size-up of 7,000 acres. The fire is moving southwest in the direction of Falls Point Lookout and continues to back toward the North Fork Cabin. Crews will hike in and perform structure protection on Carmichael Cabin Friday.

As a result of the Conger and Railley fires, most of the backcountry on the Seeley Lake Ranger District has been closed including the North Fork of the Blackfoot Trail #32 and Monture Trail #27.
