August 7 Conger Creek Fire Daily Update

Incident: Conger Creek Wildland Fire

The Conger Creek Fire grew moderately to 5800 acres on Monday. The fire continues to back into the Dwight Creek Drainage and has spotted across Canyon Creek below the Falls Point Lookout. The fire is displaying moderate spread rate with some torching and short crown runs in the 1988 Canyon Burn. Red flag warnings are in effect from noon until 9:00pm tonight.

A new fire use module arrived and is hiking into the North Fork Cabin today to transition with the current module.

An area closure has been implemented for public safety in areas of the Railley Mountain and Conger Creek Fires. The closure includes a majority of the backcountry trail system on the Seeley Lake Ranger District.
