August 5 Conger Creek Fire Daily Update
Incident: Conger Creek Wildland Fire

The Conger Creek Fire was active, growing by 600 acres yesterday for a total of 5000 acres. The fire continues to back into the Conger Creek, Dwight Creek, and Canyon Creek drainages and remained active through out the night. The fire continues to have trouble spreading in the 1988 Canyon Creek burn but is burning intensely in the Dry Fork due to heavy dead/down and has burned up to the Dry Fork trail. Minimum relative humidity yesterday was 16% with south, south/west winds 3-17 mph and gusty.
The Railley Mountain Fire, located 10 miles to the northwest of Conger, was active and had substantial growth and is now approximately 1600 acres. The fire has backed into Young's Creek. It continues to grow laterally and has crossed Jenny Creek and has reached Young's Mountain to the east and Monture Mountain to the south. Precautionary structure protection of the Trapper Cabin just north of the pass as well as Hahn Cabin has been completed.
