The Pattengail Creek Fire continues to experience cooler weather and higher relative humidity moderating fire behavior. Firefighters flew an aerial reconnaissance over the fire today and noted that the perimeter of the fire had not changed. Rehabilitation continues on parts of the contingency line. The Pattengail Creek Fire's growth potential is low and is very unlikely to threaten private property, according to fire managers.
Today's fire behavior: The fire continued smoldering in various locations.
Today's Weather: The cold front that had the potential to deliver some precipitation to the fire missed the area and no precipitation was received. Tomorrows forecast calls for warmer temperatures and light northwest winds.
Wise River Community Meetings: The next Wise River Community Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7:30 P.M. at the Community Center.
Changes in Fire Restrictions and Closures: The Forest Service lands between Lacey and Pattengail Creeks were reopened on September 7th. For public safety, some forest lands in the north half of the West Pioneer Mountains may remain closed at least through September, until soaking rains come for several days in a row.
Great hunting areas remain open around the Beaverhead-Deer lodge National Forest in spite of the limited closures. The east Pioneers, the south side of the west Pioneers, Anaconda Range and Big Hole will all be open in the Wise River District alone.
