Fire Update Sept. 18
Incident: Ahorn Wildland Fire

Yesterday's Activities: Cooler weather and scattered showers decreased fire activity. Progress was made in Hoadley Creek and near Kenck cabin as crews continued building hand line. Fire managers flew the fire perimeter to assess additional suppression needs and to update the fire acres. The fire increased by 396 acres. Hoses, pumps and structural wrap were removed from the Stoner Place and infrared equipment was used to search for hot spots near Pretty Prairie.
Weather and Fire Behavior forecast: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers are expected. Temperatures will be in the 50's and humidity will remain near 40%. With the cooler temperature and moisture, fire activity is expected to be low.
Today's Planned Actions: The complex nature of necessary suppression activities is decreasing. The transfer of command to a Type III Incident Management Team will occur at 7:00 am. Crews will continue building hand line in Hoadley Creek and above Kenck Cabin. Structural wrap will be removed from back country cabins.
Restrictions: Effective September 13th, the Lewis and Clark National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management, and Region 4 of Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks opened a number of areas that had been previously closed due to the Ahorn, Fool Creek, and Skyland Fires. Effective 9/17/07, the Beaver Willow Road, #233 was opened for public travel. Note: The area west of the road is still closed.
Stage I Fire Restrictions are in effect within the Bob Marshall Wilderness and on lands outside the Wilderness on the Rocky Mountain Ranger District, State Wildlife Management Areas and on Bureau Land Management Lands adjacent to the Rocky Mountain Front.
