The Elk Complex in the Klamath National Forest is currently composed of approximately 32 fires. All fires are in areas with steep terrain. Some are inaccessible. Many remain unstaffed.

A voluntary evacuation may be implemented in the Happy Camp area due to threat by wildland fire. If you would like additional information such as evacuation sites, a public meeting will be held at the Grange on 2nd in Happy Camp, CA at 11:00 am on Sunday, July 15, 2007.

Happy Camp District:

Tom Martin Fire (approx. 40 acres): Crews made significant progress yesterday lining the fire.

Little Grider Fire (approx. 314 acres): The fire is threatening the town of Happy Camp. The fire burned actively after 2:00 pm yesterday and continues to burn up the drainage. Crews were able to hold the fire on along the 16N30 Rd. Good progress is being made on a contingency line to prevent the fire from burning into Happy Camp.

King Creek II Fire (approx. 1200 acres): A firing operation was conducted yesterday evening and line construction continues today.

Elk Fire (approx. 1100 acres): This fire continues to be monitored. This fire is in very steep inaccessible area.

Titus Fire (approx. 1650 acres): The fire made a significant run yesterday in the afternoon and is threatening structures along Elk Creek.

Clear Fire (approx. 10 acres): Good progress has been made and the fire is lined.

The remaining fires are small. The fires will continue to be monitored, patrolled and staffed as resources allow.

Oak Knoll District:

Johnny fire, left in patrol status

China, 1800 acres. Incident Management Team Southern California #1 (Walker) has been ordered. The fire is south of the Klamath River and moving parallel. Hwy 96 at Hwy 263 has been closed.

Salmon District: zero fires

Scott River District:

"Back" Fire (approx. 15-20 acres)

Sky Fire (approx. 22 acres) - Sky fire is in mop up stage

Goosenest District: zero

Cal Fire:

Zero fires
