FIRE BREAKS OUT IN HORSE PRAIRIE
DILLON, MONT., July 7, 2007, 2:30 p.m.-A fire broke out in sagebrush and grass around 1 p.m. Saturday (July 7), about 29 miles southwest of Dillon.
The fire is in Horse Prairie, two miles northwest of Bachelor Mountain, and is burning on land administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
Seven firefighters and three engines responded to the fire from Dillon, along with volunteers and engines from the nearby fire department in Grant.
The cause of the fire isn't known yet. Winds have fanned the fire to over 100 acres.
A helicopter and a spotter plane are on the scene.
Firefighters have also requested an air tanker from Missoula to drop retardant on the fire.
