Zaca Fire Controlled But Not Out
Incident: Zaca Wildland Fire
Released: 11/2/2007
Zaca Fire Controlled But Not Out
The Zaca Fire which started on July 4, 2007 was declared controlled on October 29. While there is no longer a threat that the fire will escape control lines, small pockets of fire may continue to periodically produce visible smoke until winter rains completely extinguish the fire.
In order to allow the burned watersheds to begin healing, and due to numerous public safety hazards including ongoing landslides, rockslides, falling debris and residual fire, the Zaca Fire area will remain closed to public entry through the winter/spring 2008 rainfall season.
