100 percent containment is expected to be achieved

at 6 p.m. Friday on the Wheeler Fire, which has burned an estimated 22,902 acres.833 firefighters remain today, and continue to reinforce lines.

Falling trees in the burned area pose the greatest limiting factor to public access. Many have come down on roads in the area. Saw teams are working to mitigate this situation along roadways, but the entire area remains closed to recreation. If you have an existing campground reservation at Antelope Lake, Reserve USA will contact you and arrange your refund in the near future.Other camping alternatives this summer season include Eagle Lake and Almanor Lake west of Susanville, Bucks Lake west of Quincy, Little Grass Valley near LaPorte, and Frenchman Lake east of Portola.

Firefighters are also beginning rehabilitation in the burned area according to Plumas National Forest guidelines. This includes mitigation to reduce erosion from dozer and handlines.A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team is on site to conduct an assessment of risks to fish, wildlife, archeological and historic sites, and community water supply from the effects of the Antelope Complex Fire. They will recommend additional actions to address future impacts.

Homeowners outside the fire perimeter now have access with identification and validation of ownership, though all travel through the fire perimeter remains closed. In order to facilitate access to homeowners only, the Janesville Grade roadblock will be moved up to the junction of the 04 Road today. Property owners from Paradise Valley and Antelope Creek will be escorted to their homes for a short visit to retrieve personal items by law enforcement.Meet at the checkpoints on the Janesville Grade Road and on the Genessee-Arlington Road at 9 a.m. today.Residents will need to leave the area by noon.

A tour of the fire camp located on Genessee-Arlington Road east of Taylorville will be offered to the general public on Friday.Meet at the main camp entrance at 10 a.m. All ages are welcome. For your safety, please wear closed toed shoes. Bulletin boards will remain in area communities through the weekend.Visit www.inciweb.org for an information update and to view a 3-dimensional relief map of the fire area.
