Madison Arm Fire Grows

West Yellowstone, MT... The Madison Arm Fire, detected earlier this afternoon, is burning on the Madison Arm of Hebgen Lake approximately 2 miles south of the Madison Arm Resort. The fire continues to grow and is estimated at 150 acres.

Resources on scene include three air-tankers, an air-attack, two helicopters, a lead plane, a bulldozer, four engines, and 15 smokejumpers. In addition, three 20-person crews have been ordered, including a hotshot crew.

The fire is burning in sagebrush and timber and continues to increase in size. Crews will continue working the fire throughout the night. The cause of the fire is under investigation. "If traveling in this area please drive carefully since smoke could limit visibility," said Marna Daley, Gallatin National Forest Public Affairs Officer.

For further information please contact the Hebgen Lake Ranger District, 406-823-6961.
