The Panther fire is located 15 miles south of Happy Camp, CA.

Yesterday, the fire continued to back its way down to the Klamath River from King Creek to just south of Aubrey Creek. This backing fire was primarily a low-intensity burn in the understory of the forest.

The containment line along the southern edge of the fire is complete and holding well. Crews will continue to hold, mop-up, and patrol this piece of line.

Firefighters are making good progress building direct and indirect handline around the slopover in the Bishop Creek drainage.

Burn out operations will occur along the containment line south of Titus Ridge

Fire continues to burn into the Marble Mountain Wilderness.

Today's weather forecast is for mostly sunny with areas of dense smoke. Temperatures will be 86-94 degrees with a relative humidity of 18-25% in the lower elevations. Temperatures will be 76-84 degrees with a humidity of 20-28% at mid-slope and ridgetops.

Tonight's operations will include, patrolling, holding and mop-up along the fire line.

California Interagency Incident Management Team 1 (McGowan) will transfer command of the Panther Fire tomorrow morning to Great Basin Interagency Incident Management Team (Harvey).
