Fire was active last night in the McCash Creek area.
Yesterday, firing operations were initiated and the crews were able to increase depth of fire line from Ukonom Lookout toward Lick Creek. The firing objective was to achieve a low-intensity burn to secure the line.
On the north, the fire is still a slow moving fire. The crews did a test burnout operation near the wilderness boundary yesterday.
Crews working to finish the contingency line from the lookout to the Klamath River and south of Ten Bear Mountain will continue today. There is a section of line with very heavy fuels and on very steep terrain that needs to be finished.
As the weather conditions permit, more burnout operations will continue. Smoke may be highly visible again in the late afternoon.
The weather forecast predicts relatively light winds today, mostly sunny with dense smoke in areas. Temperatures will be 84-91 degrees in the lower elevations. It is expected the smoke will lift by mid-afternoon.
Crews will remain in the TI Bar area to improve defensible space. Further prepping where necessary will be done in that area.
Please be aware that there are forest road and trail closures in place, in the fire areas.
