Gunbarrel Fire News Update 8-17-2008
Incident: Gunbarrel Wildland Fire
Released: 8/17/2008
Minimal fire activity occurred during the operational shift on Saturday. While firefighters continued to patrol the highway and monitor areas for possible activity the incoming Type II Fire Use Management Team Rocky Mountain 1 received extensive briefings from the departing Type II Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team - A. Rocky Mountain Fire Use Team managed the Gunbarrel Fire initially and will draw on that history and the updates from Team A to continue with the execution of the Wildland Fire Implementation Plan (WFIP).
Over the next few days the area can expect to see a trend of dryer hotter weather. This in turn is expected to affect fire behavior and smoke conditions.
The Fire Use Management Team, lead by Bill Hahnenberg, will continue to manage resources and the incident based on needs. Resource benefits to the area will continue to be evaluated. Firefighter and public safety continues to remain the number one priority. Incident Commander Bill Hahnenberg stated, "We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved with the Gunbarrel Fire, and the work that Don Angell's Team has done, and will continue to manage this incident in a diligent manner."
