FIRE ACTIVITY INCREASES

Mild weather kept fire activity to a minimum again on Saturday. There was some activity in the southwest corner of the fire, backing along Libby Creek. Although light rain fell on the fire Friday night, crews found and put out one small lightning start in the area.
With completion of contingency lines near Libby Creek and cleaning up around structures, all actions consistent with long-term management of the fire have been completed. Line crews and engines will now be staged at the Fishhawk Trailhead in order to provide a quick response anywhere necessary.
Todays weather is predicted to be warmer and dryer, with more wind. It will allow fire fighters to see where hot spots are. According to Todd Pachota, Incident Commander Trainee, "This weather will allow the fire to show its hand."
As planned management actions are completed, fire fighting resources are being released to other incidents or their home units. The helicopter base near Wapiti will be closed, and air operations will be based out of the Cody airport.
Although little activity has occurred on the fire for several days, there is still a potential for active burning and fire growth once warmer dryer weather returns.
