Incident: Iron Alps Complex Wildland Fire

Current Fire Situation: The fires on the Iron Complex are being managed by Paul Broyles' Type I National Incident Management Team. A red flag warning is in effect through Wednesday evening for the Iron Complex for low humidity and winds. Active fire behavior is expected to occur throughout the burning period. Six fires remain uncontained. The Buckhorn Fire is 3,934 acres and 5% contained. The Cedar Fire is 1,286 acres and 25% contained. The Denny Fire is 43 acres and 70% contained. The Eagle Fire is 8,475 acres and 55% contained. The Ironside Fire is 12,505 acres and 75% contained. The Zeigler Fire is 876 acres and 50% contained. There was active burning last night above the inversion layer, especially on the Ziegler Fire. A succesful burnout was accomplished from a point on the Denny Road north of the fire to the Trinity River near Fisher Ranch.

Planned Actions: Cedar Fire: Finish constructing and improving hand and dozer lines. Complete burnout along 4N25 Road.

Eagle Fire: Patrol fireline along Hwy 299 and continue mopping-up and patrolling along secured lines.

Construct hand line and burn out to tie in with Big Bar Creek.

Ironside Fire: Continue improving lines and burning out and hold existing roads and dozer lines on the north flank of the fire.

Zeigler Fire: Build direct line on western perimeter and burnout as necessary.

Buckhorn Fire: Provide structure protection for private properties. Improve dozer line north to China Peak and north to 5N04 Road.

Denny Fire: Mop-up all hot spots and place the fire in monitor status.

Hwy 299 remains open, but is subject to periodic closure from falling debris and fire activity. Please call Cal Trans

at 1-800-427-7623 for the most current road conditions.

Area Closures: To protect public safety and to facilitate fire suppression efforts, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has initiated a trail closure at Canyon Creek Trailhead, which is in the Granite Fire Closure Area. In addition, Trinity County Sherriff's office has temporarily closed Country Road 402 due to fire activity. Evacuations: This morning, Trinity County Sherriff's Office issued a mandatory evacuation for Fisher Road, east of Trinity Village. Additionally, an evacuation advisory was issued for the communities of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar. These evacuation notices were ordered due to threats from the Zeigler Fire. Health Advisories: Smoky conditions and low visibility continue throughout the area. Persons with asthma or other respiratory conditions should avoid strenuous outdoor exercise or activity. Fire Information: A recorded line for the public with current information about the fire situation is available by calling (530) 226-2500 and pressing 2 for fire information.
