Important News: The Grouse and the Vinegar fires continue to burn away from the containment lines established near the Trinity River and into the interior unburned mosaic fuels. The slop over resulting from a burning snag in Division Bravo of the Vinegar fire will be the focus of today's suppression activities.
Current Fire Situation: Fire behavior has increased as the peak fire season approaches. Vegetative curing, combined with the mosaic nature of the burn, will add to a moderate potential for interior burning and reburning. Daily inversions and the associated stable air mass will limit smoke dispersal and the use of aviation resources.
Today's Objectives: Containment of the slop over on the Yellow Fire is the top priority for today. Mop up, containment and the rehabilitation of mechanical fire lines will continue on the remaining portions of the fires.
Structures and Resources Threatened: The structural protection of private holdings near Henthorne Lake and the Forest Service historic buildings have been completed.
Area Closures: For information on Forest road closures, contact the respective national forests listed in this update's letterhead. The Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness is also closed to public use to provide for public safety and facilitate fire fighting efforts.
Additional Fire Information: The Yolla Bolly Incident Information Center is located at the Ruth Fire Camp and will be in operation from 8 AM to 8 PM. The Incident Information phone number is 866-751-0788. Summary information, photos, and maps of the incident will continue to be available online at http://www.inciweb.org/.
