Forest Supervisor's Order: Judith Ranger District Russian Flats Fire Area Closure

Pursuant to Title 36 Code of Federal Regulation 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited as described below, within the Judith Ranger District on the Lewis and Clark National Forest. This temporary restriction is in addition to those enumerated in Subpart A, Part 261, Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations and will remain in effect until rescinded or revoked.

36 CFR 261.53 - Special Closures:

It is prohibited to enter or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of "Public Health and Safety" (Title 36 CFR 261.53(e)).

36 CFR 261.54 - Forest Development Roads:

It is prohibited to be upon any Forest road which is closed by a Forest Supervisor's Order (Title 36 CFR

261.54 (e))

36 CFR 261.55 - Forest Development Trails:

It is prohibited to be upon any trail which is closed by Forest Supervisor's Order (Title 36 CFR 261.55(a)).

·· For the purpose of protecting public health and safety, it is prohibited to enter National Forest lands, roads, and trails within the area depicted on the attachment titled "Russian Flats Fire Closure" and described below:

Those National Forest lands, roads, and trails within the area bounded by the following description: Beginning at the confluence of the Middle Fork and South Fork of the Judith River, continuing upstream along the Middle Fork of the Judith River in a generally westward direction to its confluence with the Lost Fork of the Judith River, then continuing along the Lost Fork of the Judith River upstream in a generally southwesterly direction to it's intersection with Burris Trail (Forest Trail # 433), then southward along the Burris trail to the trail's intersection with Forest Road # 821 in the vicinity of Holiday Camp, then continuing along Forest Road # 821 in a generally southward direction to the road's intersection with the South Fork of the Judith River, and then following the South Fork of the Judith River downstream in a generally northeast direction to the South Fork's confluence with the Middle Fork of the Judith River.

Exemptions:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following are exempt from this restriction:

1. Persons with a permit issued by a forest officer specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or

omission.

·2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the

performance of an official duty.

Penalty: Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559 and 3571).

Notification: A copy of this order shall be posted as prescribed under 36 CFR 261.51.
