ICP Info Center (866) 534-9622 -- Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

(Cottonwood Ranch, NV) - Yesterday, smoke columns persisted but all fire activity was well within the fire perimeter and in the wilderness boundary. Crews started a burnout operation along the 74 road in the vicinity of Canyon Creek, southeast of Pole Creek Guard Station. They will continue this operation today as weather permits. Firefighters also repaired fences that were unburned. Fire personnel will continue aerial patrol of the southern perimeter. Rehabilitation efforts continue on the many dozer lines in the Pole Creek and Canyon Creek areas, mainly adjacent to roads that firefighters widened and used as containment lines. Crews are also felling burned or partially burned trees along roads in the Sawmill Ridge area. So please use extreme caution if traveling in this area. Although the fire management team is releasing some resources over the weekend, the Type 3 organization will remain in place. Today, is the first day of muzzleloader firearm and archery deer hunting season. Hunters in the fire area are encouraged to use extreme caution when traveling roads adjacent to the fire, especially along the Pole Creek and Canyon Pockets Roads. A closure order remains in effect for the area surrounding the fire. No roads are affected by the closure. Please contact a local Forest Service Offices and on the Web at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/htnf. The closure is in place to provide for both public and firefighter safety and when the danger has passed. # # #
