Incident: Burroughs Wildfire
The Burroughs Fire is 100 acres and a Type III management team is in place, with Incident Command Post (ICP) set up at the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department (DFVD). There are 105 firefighters on scene including two Type II hand crews and 15 smokejumpers. There are five engines and two type III helicopters on scene. Two hotshot crews are expected to arrive today. A heavy helicopter, air tankers, and another Type II hand crew have been ordered. Fremont County resources have been requested to assist with structure protection.
Firefighting tactics for today include point protection for structures, developed campgrounds, and other improvements in the area. Air resources are being used in conjunction with ground crews to build, construct, and reinforce fireline.
- Horse Creek Campground is under mandatory evacuation; all campers have exited this recreation site.
- Double Cabin Campground is under voluntary evacuation; the majority of campers have left this recreation site.
- US Forest Service Roads 510 (Burroughs Creek Loop) and 285 (Horse Creek Road) are closed. The Horse Creek Road is closed at its junction with Forest Service Road 511 (Brent Creek Road).
