Summary: On Saturday August 24 2013 a thunderstorm ignited the Kelley Fire 7 miles southeast of Featherville Idaho. The fire is burning in a steep remote area and is not easily accessible by fire crews. The fire started at about 10 acres and has now grown to a little over 17 000 acres.
Current Situation: The Great Basin Type 2 Team (Team 6) will turn the fire over to a Type 3 team tomorrow morning at 6 am. That team will lead fire crews in completing and securing the containment lines and monitoring for spot fires. Fireline rehabilitation efforts are complete on the majority of the fire area. Every effort has been made in fireline rehabilitation to minimize the long-term effects of fire suppression on the land. Although the fire is 97% contained occasional smoke may continue to be visible from time to time due to small pockets of burning fuels inside the containment lines.
Weather: Sunny with temperatures from 76-83 across the fire area. Moisture moves into the area on Wednesday.
