Firefighters Work to Secure Fire Lines Ahead of Predicted Winds
Incident: Lolo Creek Complex Wildfire
A red flag warning remains in effect through Friday for lightning and winds gusting to 30 mph associated with dry, changing to wet, thunderstorms.
Firefighters will continue aggressive fire suppression efforts with the goal of holding the fire along firelines constructed during the day Thursday. Crews will continue to hold and improve lines from burnout operations on the ridge west of Sawmill Gulch.
All crews on the fire are on alert for more active and rapidly-changing fire behavior from expected weather changes moving into the area today. Crews will continue structure protection around the residences in Sleeman Gulch, and along the Highway 12 corridor. Additional crews will continue mopup operations along Highway 12. Crews will improve access to the fire’s northern flank to support suppression operations.
Mobile retardant bases have been established in strategic sites to provide more immediate and direct support to mopup and suppression activities. Air resources will continue to be available as weather permits with the incoming storms.
