Lolo Creek Complex Is 30% Contained
Incident: Lolo Creek Complex Wildfire
The Lolo Creek Complex is now 30% contained. Today, firefighters conducted a burning operation on the ridge west of Sawmill Gulch to check fire spread to the east. Crews also continued to hold and improve control lines along West Fork Butte Creek to Highway 12 along the south flank of the fire. Aircraft are supporting the ground effort as needed. Highway 12 remains closed and residents are evacuated from Sleeman Gulch to Graves Creek Road.
The Lolo Creek Complex burned actively today, but no significant growth was observed. However, firefighters are concerned about the weather forecast, with possible thunderstorm activity, which could bring gusty winds and low humidity.
Tomorrow, firefighters will continue to focus on keeping the fire west of Sleeman Gulch and north of Highway 12. Structure protection continues along Highway 12 and in Sleeman Gulch.
Highway 12 remains closed from Sleeman Gulch west to the Idaho state line. A new fire near Kooskia, Idaho today prompted intermittent closures of Highway 12 in Idaho.
