Incident: Little Queens Wildfire

Size: 23,324 acres
Fuels: Timber (litter and understory), Sub-alpine fir, Douglas-fir, pine
Assigned Resources: 4 20-person crews, 5 helicopters, 10 engines, 5 water tenders, 4 camp crews and miscellaneous overhead personnel Total Personnel: 311
Observed Fire Behavior: Moderate, included creeping with group tree torching and short-range spotting
Evacuations: The evacuation orders for Atlanta have been lifted for residents only. The James Creek Road was temporarily open for Atlanta residents to return yesterday.
The Middle Fork road remains closed to all public traffic as firefighters work along the road falling hazardous trees and moping up hotspots.
Fire Situation: Crews made good progress with mop up and securing the containment line on the south flank adjacent to and near Atlanta, as well as to the west along Middle Fork Road. Hose, pumps, sprinklers and water tanks were removed from Atlanta, and small trenches used for road crossings of hoselays are being repaired.
Today, fire crews will continue to secure and mop-up the south flank adjacent to and near Atlanta. The east and west flanks of the fire will continue to be monitored for fire activity; suppression action utilizing helicopter water drops will be taken if necessary.
Fire suppression repair activities will continue. This includes obliterating handlines or installing waterbars to direct any water flow off and away from the line, returning pump sites to a natural state by covering the area with slash or sod, removing any trash and plastic and repairing trenches used for hoselays crossing roads.
