Fire Name: Patch Springs Fire
Start Date: August 10, 2013
Location: Stansbury Mountain Range- 2 miles NW of Terra, UT
Jurisdiction: Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, Skull Valley Indian Reservation, State, and private lands.
Fire Size: 31,010 Acres
Fire Behavior: Single tree torching and creeping/smoldering in timber stringers
Closures: Clover Springs Campground
Structures: 5 residences destroyed, 1 residence damaged, 8 outbuildings destroyed, 1 commercial property destroyed
Percent Contained: 80%
Fuels: The fire is burning in juniper, sage brush, and short grass with timber stringers on the north slopes at higher elevations
Fire Crews/Resources: 2handcrews, 2 helicopters, and 2 engines, Total Personnel 58
Evacuations: No evacuations are in place
Injuries: 3 heat related illnesses
Crews continue to patrol fireline on the western edge as well in the communities of Terra and Big Hollow. Containment of the fire is now at 80%. Interior burning will still be occurring in timber stringers and will continue to burn until fuels are consumed or significant precipitation occurs within the area. The fire has been turned back over to a local management team and resources will continue to patrol, secure, and mop-up fireline.
