866-467-9153 or 801-386-3072
Summary: The Patch Springs Fire started by lightning on August 10, 2013 and is located in the Stansbury Mountain Range from Highway 199 (south), Skull Valley Indian Reservation (west), Big Creek Canyon (north) and East Hickman (east).
Current Situation: Although there is some interior burning, crews have built a good line along the west edge of the fire bringing containment of the fire to 45 percent. Stringers of timber continue to burn in the wilderness on the northeast as well as along the southeast portions of the fire. Helicopters and retardant drops help crews on the ground along the south and southeast edge to secure Terra and Big Hollow.
Weather: Moisture will remain in place over the next few days resulting in a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day. A weak weather system is expected to move across the area late Monday into Tuesday which may enhance thunderstorm coverage.
Closures: Clover Springs Campground continues to be closed to the public. Highway 199 (Johnson Pass Road) is now open for public travel.
It’s HOT & DRY! The public is reminded to be extremely cautious with all sources of ignition: equipment, lawn mowers, chains dragging, campfires and cigarettes. Be sure campfires are never left unattended and are out completely and cool to the touch before leaving. It only takes one spark.
