Incident: Patch Springs Wildfire Wildfire
Patch Springs Fire Update
August 18, 2013
Summary: The Patch Springs Fire started by lightning on August 10, 2013 and is located in the Stansbury Mountain Range from Highway 199 (south), Skull Valley Indian Reservation (west), Big Creek Canyon (north) and East Hickman (east).
Current Situation: Fire crews have been successful securing a dozer line along the west and southwest edge of the fire. On the north end the fire has burned into the old Pole Fire. Fire crews will be concentrating on the south end of the fire today to keep the fire from progressing downslope toward Big Hollow and securing the structures around the town of Terra. Stringers of timber continue to burn in the wilderness on the northeast portion of the fire. Fire crews will be scouting the eastern flank for fire line placement locations and access to that side of the fire.
Closures: Highway 199 (The Johnson Pass Road) is closed to the public just west of Rush Valley and east of Terra. Clover Springs Campground is also closed.
Although there are no other area closures at this time, the public should be careful traveling through and camping in the fire area.
