Today firefighters faced hot and extremely dry conditions. Pockets of unburned vegetation around Thompson Peak and at the South edge of the fire’s perimeter continued to burn today. Crews took advantage of shifting north by northwest winds to fire out interior pockets in the Clavey and Twin Creek areas laying the smoke column interior to the fire’s perimeter. Crews successfully contained 15 spot fires along the Tioga Road today and tonight’s plan is to fire out a three quarter mile section of line within the park to contain an additional spot fire.
Park and Forest Closures
Yosemite National Park has closed Tamarack Flat and Yosemite Creek Campgrounds both located along Tioga Road. White Wolf Campground and White Wolf Lodge remain closed.
