As of Saturday afternoon, the Sheep Creek, North Eightmile and Emigrant Fires will be updated in Inciweb under the Miner Paradise Complex.
Sheep Creek Fire: Fire activity on the Sheep Creek Fire has increased today and is estimated at 180 acres. Firefighters in the area are seeing moderate fire activity with short uphill runs and spotting outside the fire perimeter. Burning material is also rolling below the main fire and creating spots below. Two Paradise Valley Fire Department engines are assessing the structures closest to the fire and establishing a structure protection plan.
North Eightmile Fire: After the morning recon flight of the North Eightmile Fire, it is estimated at 76 acres. Fire officials did not see active fire on the west side of the Gallatin Crest Divide where the fire crossed over yesterday. The fire is most active on the Paradise Valley side of the Divide. The firefighters on the ground have an anchor point established and will be working today to construct direct fireline where it is safe to do so on the west side of the fire. They are reporting moderate fire activity today.
Emigrant Fire: The Emigrant Fire is not as active today as it was yesterday. Firefighters saw minimal smoke coming from the north side of the fire in the Gold Prize drainage, and minimal smoke coming from the south edge of the fire.
The Type 2 team will be meeting with Gallatin National Forest Officials Saturday afternoon and will be taking over the Miner Paradise Complex early Sunday morning. A new email and information phone lines will be established in the near future.
