8-27-2013 Beaver Creek Fire Update
Incident: Beaver Creek Fire Wildfire
No active fire behavior was observed yesterday, though limited smoke remains visible inside the perimeter. The fire now totals 111,408 acres and is 92% contained. There are currently 654 personnel working towards full containment, which includes significant mop up (extinguishing or removing burning and hazardous material) and rehabilitation of suppression damage. Crews are working closely with resource advisors to remove logs and restore dozer and hand lines.
A red flag warning is in effect today for thunderstorms and gusty outflow winds. This threat persists through Sunday; debris flow from storm activity is possible. The team will maintain staffing of five helicopters to continue support of containment efforts.
A public meeting to discuss the current fire situation and plans for rehabilitation will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Big Wood, 100 Saddle Rd. in Ketchum. A second meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Community Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Rd. in Hailey. Live streaming is available at www.coxhshub.com/cox-business/.
