Corral Fire Update August 27,2013 10am
Incident: Corral Complex Wildfire
Current Situation: The warming and drying weather trend is expected to continue. Movement is predicted to be up to ¼ mile. Yesterday’s fire spread was less than 30 acres with higher humidities. Creeping and backing behavior was observed in heavier ground fuels below 4000 feet. The fire continues to be active at higher elevations with occasional tree torching observed. Due to multiple hazards such as falling snags and rolling logs, the incident is in patrol status at night and resources are prepositioned in safe areas near the fire in spike camps. With a mostly clear day today, Air Operations will continue activities on the southeastern side of the fire. Structure defense preparation plans are underway for the communities of Denny and the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, as a precautionary measure.
Evacuations: None currently in place. The structures at risk are outside the fire perimeter.
Road Closures: Road Closures: Big Hill Road, Tish Tang Road and Four Corners on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation are now closed due to increased fire personnel traffic and fire suppression activities. Forest Service roads 7N26, 7N53, and 7N04 surrounding the Groves Prairie Spike Camp have restricted public access due to fire crew activity. BE SAFE!
Area & Trail Closures: For public safety and to ensure unimpeded access for firefighters and equipment, public access is restricted in the fire area.
Community Meetings: None scheduled at this time.
