Corral Complex Update August 28, 2013 8pm
Incident: Corral Complex Wildfire
Current Situation: With the reduced fire behavior and increased resources, significant progress was made today on the direct, indirect and contingency lines. Weather conditions have allowed crews to go direct where the terrain allows and still respect wilderness values. Containment lines continue to be built on the west side in preparation for burning operations, should weather conditions allow. The burning operations would reduce fuel that pose a threat to containment lines.
Air Operations activities continued to focus on the southeastern side of the fire again today. Structure defense analysis is complete in the community of Denny and continues to progress for the Hoopa Community as a precautionary measure.
Starting this evening a minimal night shift of 2 engines will be monitoring the fire around Grizzly Camp on the south portion of the fire. Crews today assisted the Shasta Trinity National Forest on the Hunter fire, which was started by a lightning strike.
Evacuations: None currently in place. The structures at risk are outside the fire perimeter.
Road Closures: Road Closures: Big Hill Road, Tish Tang Road and Four Corners on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation are now closed due to increased fire personnel traffic and fire suppression activities. Forest Service roads 7N26, 7N53, and 7N04 surrounding the Groves Prairie Spike Camp have restricted public access due to fire crew activity. BE SAFE!
Area & Trail Closures: For public safety and to ensure unimpeded access for firefighters and equipment, public access is restricted in the fire area.
Community Meetings: None scheduled at this time.
