Incident: State Wildfire
State Fire Update August 19 – 10:00 A.M.
IDAHO FALLS, ID:
Start Date: August 8, 2013
Location: 8 miles west of Portage, UT
Fuels: Timber, grass and understory
Terrain: Steep, Rugged
Resources: Beginning to demobilize
Total Personnel: 150-180
Summary: Effective 6 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, the fire is now managed by a local Type 3 Incident Management Team with Wade Christopherson as the Incident Commander. “We are very happy with the progress being made,” said Christopherson. “The line is secure and we will be working on rehabilitation efforts and mopping up interior flare ups.”
No projected movement is expected outside the established containment lines. The public can still expect to see smoke as interior pockets of fuels continue to burn. Many of the resources working the fire have been released to respond to other incidents. Approximately 150-180 personnel remain on scene to continue mopping up this incident.
A final town hall meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 20 at 5:00 p.m. at the Fire Information Tent located at the Malad City Park. BLM Pocatello Field Manager, Dave Pacioretty and Incident Commander Christopherson will discuss the Type 3 organization, suppression and fire rehab efforts and answer other questions the public may have.
