Incident: Forks Complex (includes Butler Fire ) Wildfire
Today’s Fire Behavior and Environmental Conditions for Forks Complex:
The low trough off the Pacific Northwest is predicted to continue to bring southerly winds to the area with the most active winds predicted between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Vegetation in the area may continue to smolder.
Yesterday’s Accomplishments and Observations:
Crews pulled and chipped brush from dozer lines south of the Cecilville Road. Wildland Fire Use Modules, hot shots and hand line crews suppressed the few hot spots present in the Granite Creek drainage. Crews also continued to conduct fire suppression repair in the Hotelling Ridge area.
Crews will continue the process of removing and chipping brush south of the Cecilville Road in the McNeal Creek area. Firefighters will continue suppression repair, monitoring fire behavior and mopping up in areas east of Orleans Mountain, in the Granite and Nordheimer drainages, along the Salmon River Road and in the Butler Creek area.
Resources are starting to be released from the fire. As of tomorrow, all remaining personnel will operate out of the Forks of Salmon fire camp.
Forks Complex Alerts:
North Fork/Sawyers Bar Road is open, but motorists should expect possible delays and temporary closures along the Sawyer’s Bar Road. Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution due to the continued potential for rollout along the road.
Salmon River Road (Hwy 93) between Forks of Salmon and Butler Flat is open to the public with one-way controlled traffic. Motorists should expect delays at times and this road is also subject to temporary closures as conditions dictate.
Hunters are reminded to check the changes in the Forest Closure Order affecting National Forest System lands around the Butler Fire and Salmon River Complex on the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests. The purpose of this order is to protect visitors from active pockets of fire within the containment lines.
