8-22-13 Afternoon Update
Incident: Forks Complex (includes Butler Fire ) Wildfire
Butler Fire Afternoon Operational Update
4:00 p.m. August 22, 2013
Fire behavior has greatly moderated since yesterday’s weather event however only one third of the fire got substantial rain. Conditions did not allow for a night shift so crews did not continue to fire out. There will be no crew this evening either. All lines are holding.
Crews went direct on yesterday’s 5-acre slop-over southwest of Orleans Mountain Lookout and contained it today with a final estimate of 12 acres.
The latest round of lightning has started several new fires in the area and the Klamath National Forest is sending resources. Some of these starts are north of Youngs Peak and in the area of Steinacher Creek and Wooley Creek Corral and Trailhead.
