The North Coast Unified Air Quality Management Department is providing daily notifications of any Air Quality health advisories or alerts. Or further information, call the NCUAQMD 24-hour Air Quality Advisory Information at 1-866-BURN DAY (1-866-287-6329) or visit the District’s website at www.ncuaqmd.org or the Siskiyou County Pollution Control District at http://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/AG/apc.aspx.
The following closures are in effect for the public, excluding residents within the closure area:
A Forest Closure is in effect for the areas of the Klamath National Forest around the Butler Fire and Salmon River Complex. To see the full Forest Closure, please visit: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5430601.pdf
Highway 93 (Forks of Salmon Road) is closed at the Highway 96 intersection and above the Forks of Salmon store. No access to North Fork/Sawyers Bar Road is available at this time.
High humidity on the Butler Fire slowed activity enough to hinder planned ignitions on the ridge above Butler Flat. Helicopters made bucket drops farther up Butler Creek to slow the fire’s spread up the drainage and keep it from reaching the ridge. Fire continued advancing slowly towards Forks of Salmon with structure protection resources in place.
NorCal Team 2 will transfer command of the Butler Fire to a NIMO Team (Quisenberry) on Friday, August 16th, 2013 at 6:00 am. NorCal Team 2 would like to thank all the residents from Hoopa to Somes Bar south to Butler Flat and past Forks of Salmon. Your understanding and support of our operations has reinforced our mission to help the people that we serve.
At this time, an Evacuation Advisory remains in effect in and around Forks of Salmon.
