Whiskey Complex Update, Sept. 23, 2013
Incident: Whiskey Complex Wildfire
Forest Service employees are unwrapping the historic Whiskey Camp building and Butler Butte Cabin now that the threat of fire is passed. Both sites remain closed to public access due to the potential hazard of burned trees loose rocks and ash pits.
The fire continues nt lines. Some hot spots remain within the interior of the fire’s perimeter but pose no threat to the fire line. On-going repair work includes felling and chipping danger trees to clear up the sides of roads that will be later re-opened for public use.
Management of the fire was transferred to a local Type 4 organization under the direction of Incident Commander Drew DeLozier. The Command Post is located at the Tiller Ranger Station. Fire managers continue to downsize operations by releasing resources as appropriate.
Road and area closures (06-15-02-13-307) are still in place to protect the health and safety of the public and firefighting resources. The team anticipates re-opening roads on Sept. 25 after the roadsides are cleared.
Additional fire information is available by calling the Tiller Ranger District at 541-825-3100.
