BITTERROOT NATIONAL FOREST
1801 N. First Street Hamilton, MT 59840 Forest Supervisor's Order Emergency Area Closure
Pursuant to Title 36 Code of Federal Regulation 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited as described below, within the West Fork Ranger District on the Bitterroot National Forest. These restrictions are in addition to those enumerated in Subpart A, Part 261, Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations and will remain in effect from August 31,2013 until rescinded.
36 CFR 261.53(e) -Special Closures: It is prohibited to enter or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of "Public Health and Safety" (Title 36 CFR 261.53(e)).
The purpose for these restrictions is to provide for public safety due to wildfires.
AREA DESCRIPTION: Starting at Fales Flat Campground travel north and east along Forest Service Trail #142 (Sheephead Creek) to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #32 (Indian Creek); then westerly on Forest Service Trail# 32 to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #36; then south on Forest Service Trail #36 to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #13; then west on Forest Service Trail #13 to the intersection Forest Service Trail #37; then south on Forest Service Trail #37 to Forest Service road 468; then west on Forest Service road 468 to Magruder Crossing, continue south on Forest Service road 468 to Haystack Saddle; then south up the ridge to intersection with Forest Service Road 468 at Forest Service Trail #7; then south on the east side of Forest Service road 468 to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #705; then south on Forest Service Trail #705 to Salmon Mountain Lookout and continuing south to Forest Service Trail #19; then south on Forest Service Trail #19 to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #73; then east on Forest Service Trail #73 to the intersection with Forest Service Trail # 31; then southeast on Forest Service Trail #31 to the intersection with the southern section line of section 14 T26N R14E; then east on the section line to the southeast comer of section 13 T26N R14E; then north on the section line for one mile; then east on the section line to the intersection with Forest Service Trail #106; then northeast on Forest Service trail #106 continuing on Forest Service Trail #223 to the western section line ofT2S R23W Section 15; then north on the section line to Forest Service Trail #183; then north on Forest Service Trail #183 to Forest Service road 468; then west on Forest Service road 468 to Fales Flat.
All Forest Service road and trails as identified within the prohibited area are closed. Forest Service Trails #142, #32, #36, #13, #37, #705, #19, #73, #31 are open. Forest Service Trails # 106, #223, #183 are closed. BearCone Lookout will remained closed.
The Magruder Corridor may be open daily from 10:00AM -2:00PM depending on fire activity and road conditions.
THE ATTACHED VICINITY MAP IS HEREBY MADE A PART OF THIS ORDER.
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following are exempt from this restriction:
1. Persons with a permit issued by a forest officer specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six
(6) months, or both (16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559 and 3571).
A copy of this order shall be posted as prescribed under 36 CFR 261.51.
