August 6 Lodgepole Fire Update- Indirect Line Construction Continues
Incident: Lodgepole Wildfire
Firefighters are working to delay eastward progression of the fire. Indirect line construction continues on the north and east sides of the fire to protect values at risk on private, National Forest and BLM lands. The strategy is to contain the south and east sides of the fire and protect the values at risk by steering the fire toward the 2007 Shower Bath Fire in the Frank Church Wilderness.
There will be a public meeting Wednesday, August 7 at 6 P.M at the Challis Middle School Auditorium, 700 Main Street, Challis, Idaho 83226. The Incident Commander, Dan Kleinman, Operations Chief, Curtis Heaton and Fire Behavior Analyst, Ken Rogers will provide a briefing on the current situation of the fire, discuss the expected fire behavior given the weather forecast and fuel conditions and give an overview of the long term strategy being implemented on the wildfire.
