August 5, 9am Update
Incident: Lodgepole Wildfire
August 5 - Firefighters are working to delay eastward progression of the fire. Indirect line construction continues on the north and east sides of the fire to protect values at risk on private, National Forest and BLM lands. The strategy is to contain the south and east sides of the fire and protect the values at risk by steering the fire toward the 2007 Shower Bath Fire in the Frank Church Wilderness.
The weather remains warm and dry with a red flag warning for the afternoon and evening. There is an increased chance of dry afternoon thunderstorms that could impact fire behavior. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible along ridge tops and you may see large plumes of smoke in the afternoon.
A spike camp has been set up at Mosquito Flat to alleviate some of the travel time and allow firefighters more time on the fireline.
