Incident: Carpenter 1 Wildfire
Residents and business owners only will be allowed back into Lee Canyon tomorrow, Monday July 15, at 8 a.m. Residents and business owners will be allowed back into Kyle Canyon, Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m.
A new fire today below Angel Peak was contained by initial attack using heavy helicopters and an engine crew. Heavy equipment is continuing to work on the repair of the areas affected by the flash flooding/debris flows as a result from thunderstorms on July 12. Tonight firefighters will be patrolling the burn area and mopping up any hot spots they may find. Firefighting resources are beginning to be released due to reduced fire activity and will be re-assigned to other incidents if needed.
Fire behavior today was creeping and smoldering with isolated single and group tree torching.
The community of Kyle Canyon remains under evacuation. James Bilbray Elementary and Hafen Elementary are designated as Red Cross reception centers. Both are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
