KINGMAN, AZ – As of 9 a.m., Sunday, July 7 evacuation orders for the communities of Pine Lake, Pinion Pines and Getz Ranch are lifted and residents will be allowed to return to their homes. Firefighters made significant progress in the suppression of the Dean Peak Fire, which is now at 65% containment. Despite very windy conditions, containment lines have held and officials have determined that it is safe for residents to return.
Re-entry of Pine Lake, Pinion Pines and Getz Ranch will be limited on Sunday to residents only. Residents are asked to proceed with extreme caution, as firefighters and fire engines are still present in the communities. Speed limit is restricted to 15 MPH and drivers are asked to keep their headlights on. Watch for firefighters, engines, water tenders and other large pieces of equipment. To prevent traffic congestion, residents of Pinion Pines are asked to re-enter their community via the DW Ranch Road off of I-40.
An informational Open House will take place at Pine Lake Fire Department Station 62 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th. Residents are invited to stop in and ask questions as well as review maps of the burn area.
Nearly all the fire perimeter has been cold trailed or lined. Fire fighters will continue to check for hotspots as mop-up operations ensue. Constructed dozer control lines are being rehabilitated. Residents should expect to see fire personnel working in the area and are asked to drive with extreme caution at all times.
