For those who wish to watch the ceremony but cannot or do not wish to head to Tim’s Toyota Center, there will be other opportunities around town, on the web and on television. We will be passing on that information as it becomes available.
Please follow our website at www.yarnellfallenfirefighters.com for all memorial information as it is released.
Escort of Fallen Firefighters from Phoenix to Prescott – Under escort by the Joint Arizona Honor Guard, the fallen firefighters will be transported by 19 hearses, each accompanied by motorcycle escorts from various agencies. Within each hearse, an honor guard member will accompany each fallen firefighter. A flag will also accompany each fallen firefighter. Honors will be presented as the fallen firefighters are taken from the medical examiner’s office to the waiting vehicles. Flags of the United States, the State of Arizona, and local fire departments will line the path to the vehicles. Honor Guards will flank the path to the vehicles holding ceremonial axes. Ladder trucks will hold a flag above the path. A fire engine will accompany the procession from Phoenix to Prescott. Donations – The Diamondback Major League Baseball organization will present a donation check to the Prescott Fire charities tonight at the Whiskey Row Street Dance. Honor Guard will post Colors at 5 PM, followed by the National Anthem, and the check presentation ceremony will take place at 7:30 PM. The Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Incident Management Team would like to express our gratitude for the huge outpouring of concern from across the country. As of this morning, more than $1.6 million has been received by three firefighter-endorsed organizations: the 100 Club of Arizona, the Wildland Firefighters Foundation, and the United Phoenix Firefighters Association. The official team website is www.yarnellfallenfirefighters.com. Other similar websites have also been created but their intent or credibility has not been verified. We encourage all donors to first check the credibility and confirm their 501C3 status before donating. Credit cards can be used for donations on the official website and 100% of the donations will be given to the 19 families. (Monetary donations are preferred.) We have received many offers to donate poetry and music for the memorial service. We are very appreciative of all offers; however, the program for the memorial service is substantially complete.
