Incident: Moon Lake Complex Wildfire
The Moon Lake Fire was active yesterday along the Tanana River near Cathedral Bluffs creating increased public interest along the Alaska Highway. Aerial water delivery was successful in keeping the fire north and east of the river. Additional structure protection measures were completed at Mansfield Lake Village. Today, crews will finish construction of a saw line to confine the northwest corner of the fire.
The Alaska Incident Management Team will have a community meeting at the Tanacross Community Center today at 3pm. Team members will provide updates on fire status.
The Tetlin Junction Ridge Fire received light precipitation yesterday afternoon. Crews were successful in securing the northern flank using saw line and mop-up tactics. Today, crews will continue to strengthen all containment lines.
Precipitation has been continuous on all fires in the complex during the past twelve hours.
The Alaska Highway is OPEN. Drivers are urged to use caution and drive slowly around wildfire personnel and equipment. Updated information on travel conditions can be found at http://511.alaska.gov.
