Rio Blanco County, CO – Yesterday the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A assumed command of the Collins Fire. They will be managing this fire in addition to the management of the Wild Rose Fire. The Collins fire size is now 379 acres and burning in Pinyon-Juniper Pine. The fire is located in Piceance Basin, off CR 3, 17 miles southwest of Meeker, CO. It is under the jurisdiction of the White River BLM Field Office in Rio Blanco County.
There are currently seven fire hand crews, as well as three helitack crews with two helicopters, four engines and other fire support staff assigned to the Collins Fire.
Another Red Flag Warning today for critical fire weather tonight until 10 p.m.
