Yesterday’s Events: Yesterday’s fire behavior was minimal due to favorable weather conditions. These conditions allowed firefighters to once again make good progress towards containing the fire. Afternoon thunderstorms brought .11 inches of precipitation to the fire area. Firefighters continued to grid the fire area, particularly around homes for hotspots and suppressed those they found.
Today’ Forecast and Activity
Today’s temperatures will increase slightly with a predicted high of 78 degrees. Thunderstorms will continue their pattern of entering the fire area in the early afternoon with isolated precipitation expected along with the potential for lightning activity. Strong winds and hail are possible late this afternoon and early evening.
Fire spread is predicted to be minimal due to higher relative humidity and cool temperatures. The potential for re-burn and threats to structures remains, with the potential for extreme fire behavior due to expected high winds and lightning. Firefighters will continue to grid and suppress hot spots, especially around structures, to ensure these areas will not cause further impacts as residents return.
Due to decreasing demands of the incident, numerous resources are being released and made available to respond to other incidents as they arise.
Evacuations and Closures Evacuated residents on a section of the eastern area of the fire will be allowed to return to their homes today.
